Created in 3d Studio Max R6, edited with Photoshop (the ozone layer, and some color changes). I used 8192x4096 maps, though they were originally twice that size. However 3dsmax was choking loading just one of those maps, let alone a dozen or so I used for the earth mask/specular textures, the cloud layer (which is several geospheres each with different layers of textures). I'm rather happy with the render, though I think I can do better. Perhaps future renders will include some objects like a satellite or space station. I really wanna create a true 3d cloud layer, something upclose where you can see depth .

Wow, Im actually stoked This is looking good and to see you do better, especially with some bump mapping on those clouds would look fantastic, I dont think Ive ever seen planet work this good in 3DS...also with a satellite or space station would really add to a scene of this type, cant wait to see more ^_^

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Merry Christmas to you out there but don't forget: we are only guests here and so...listen to my favourite words... and look at all these wonderful pieces of art
